Pushkar and Gayathri's 2022 Hindi-language neo-noir action suspenser film Vikram Vedha was inspired by the Indian historical novel Baital Pachisi and is based on their 2017 Tamil film of the same name. Together, YNOT Studios, Jio Studios, Theme Studios, T-Series Flicks, Friday Filmworks, and Reliance Entertainment produced the movie. Saif Ali Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Radhika Apte, Rohit Saraf, and Yogita Bihani also appear as supporting cast members. It depicts the tale of an honorable policeman who embarks on a mission to find and assassinate a dreaded gangbanger.
Product production started in October 2021 and ended in June 2022. On September 30, 2022, the movie received a worldwide theatrical release and received favorable reviews from critics.
Story
SSP Vikram is a trustworthy policeman with a clear distinction between right and wrong. Vedha is a notorious gangbanger from Kanpur who is adept at reading between the lines. The STF, created to keep Vedha out, is led by SSP Abbas, a trendy friend of Vikram. The crew kills some of Vedha's goons in one incident, framing an unarmed criminal slain by Vikram to escape further investigation. Vedha walks into the police station and willingly hands over information while the unit organizes another trouble. Vedha offers to tell a story to Vikram when the latter is questioning him. Shatak, a brilliant young man who belongs to Vedha's family, is warned by the notorious gangbanger in the first act to refrain from committing crimes, but Shatak feels compelled to do so.
Babloo attacks Shatak under the orders of his master Shiv Prasad, leaving a never-ending scar on his hand. Vikram is asked by Vedha whether he should kill Shiv Prasad or Babloo. Vedha suggests that Vikram killed Shiv Prasad in response to Vikram's claim that Shiv Prasad was the actual villain. Vedha's advisor, who later reveals herself to be Vikram's wife
Priya steps in and saves him. In light of the mark on Shatak's palm, Vikram learns that the unarmed criminal they had falsely accused in order to avoid an investigation was actually Shatak. Vikram goes to help Abbas because he fears Vedha could try to kill him but instead discovers Chanda and him shot to death. The IG brushes it off as a minor inconvenience. Priya declines to tell Vikram where Vedha is. Vikram is furious and raids Vedha's tunnels as a result succeeds in capturing him. Vikram is asked to listen to another story by Vedha.
The alternative act involves Shatak, now an adult, offering to invest Vedha's income in shares to censor it. Parshuram Pandey, Vedha's master, contributes Rs. 1 crore ($000) to this enterprise. Still, Chanda is reportedly being kidnapped, and the oligarch is missing. Chanda returns and confesses that she had taken the wealthy individual to begin a new life but had returned because she loved Shatak. The plutocrat is given back to Vedha, who then offers Pandey the order to kill Chanda. Vikram is asked by Vedha whether he should obey Pandey's orders and show him respect or disobey him and side with Shatak and Chanda, starting a gang war. Vedha concurs with Vikram's recommendation that he assist Shatak in his response. Knowing Shatak was innocent soon after making Vikram stumble, Vedha attacks and takes him down while instructing him to look into Shatak and Abbas's deaths.
The snitch that Abbas used to lead them to Shatak's den was killed when Vikram started his disquisition. He searches for the murderer with his team. When Vikram discovers the Mumbai Gang's leader from Vedha's tale, he pauses to reflect. After being captured and engaged in combat, the gang leader almost killed Vikram before being shot and killed by a member of his unit, Deepak. When Vikram investigates his room, he comes across a cigar, however, the cigar is actually filled with marijuana as opposed to tobacco. Vikram determines that Babloo is responsible for the commotion and informs Vedha at his restaurant. It leads Babloo to a closed-down factory. When Vikram arrives, he is greeted by Vedha, who informs him of the third and final act. Shatak and Chanda had been sent to Mumbai by Vedha. He observed that the bobbies were excluding and targeting only his guys, not Pandey's.

Vedha, in response to Babloo's surrender, claims that Abbas was bought by Babloo to kill his soldiers, and he asks Vikram if Abbas was correct given that he escaped paying for his son's medical treatment. Vikram becomes irritated trying to figure out who killed Abbas after Vedha murders Babloo. When the IG and the unit show up, they reprimand Vikram for allowing Vedha to go once more. Slowly, Vikram understands that Babloo had also purchased the entire unit. According to IG, Babloo bribed them to kill Vedha, and Chanda's kidnapping was done in an effort to draw Shatak away from Mumbai and out of hiding. Abbas, who was filled with guilt, had gone to save Chanda, but the unit had slain both of them. Vedha reappears and saves Vikram as the squad is about to execute him. In the ensuing gunfight, Vikram disables all of his teammates with Vedha's assistance but kills the IG. In the ensuing confrontation, Vikram and Vedha argue about whether Vedha should murder the criminal or let him escape to save his own life.

Pushkar-Gayathri officially announced in March 2018 that they will be helming a Hindi version of their 2017 Tamil film Vikram Vedha, which would once again be made by YNOT Studios.
Neeraj Pandey acts as the creative producer on the movie, which is co-produced by Friday Filmworks, T-Series Films, and Reliance Entertainment[7][8]. [9] Pushkar-Gayathri wanted to keep the "gritty" feel of the original movie in the remake. [10] Pandey was interested in working on this project because of its parallels to Vikramaditya and Betal from the folktale collection Baital Pachisi, which he felt was not yet done in Hindi cinema, despite the fact that he had previously avoided working on remakes because he preferred to write original material.
Casting
Shah Rukh Khan was asked to join the cast but turned it down. It was announced in August 2019 that Saif Ali Khan and Aamir Khan[a] would portray the roles of gangster Vedha and police inspector Vikram, respectively. In the streaming television series Sacred Games, Saif portrayed the role of Sartaj Singh, another police officer. Saif said Vikram is "far more vibrant, confident and strong" than Singh, who was suicidal and frequently picked on by others. Due to his obligations to Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, Pushkar-Gayathri stated that they were unable to have R. Madhavan return to the part of Vikram from the original (2022).
After the COVID-19 epidemic caused production delays, during which the writers also revised the script, Aamir departed the film in December 2020. Hrithik Roshan took over shortly after. After Na Tum Jaano Na Hum, this would be Saif and Roshan's second appearance together on screen (2002). Roshan made the decision to talk with an Awadhi accent because Vedha is from Kanpur. Radhika Apte was cast in July to play Vikram's lawyer wife, and Rohit Saraf joined the cast in August to play Vedha's sibling. Sharib Hashmi was confirmed to play Babloo in the movie before November 2021. Yogita Bihani was selected to play Chanda in March 2022.
Filming
When Aamir Khan joined the cast in February 2021, principal photography was slated to start that month. It was originally scheduled to begin once Roshan took his place in June 2021, but it actually did so on October 15 of that same year, with the first schedule taking place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Before filming began, Vikram Vedha's crew modified a portion of the Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) sets to mimic Lucknow and Kanpur. According to Reliance, the UAE was "the only location providing the infrastructure for a bio-bubble that accommodated a crew of such scale, also allowing the building of sets in a studio during the preceding months of the shoot," and the movie was shot there due to "health and protocol concerns" in response to reports that Roshan refused to shoot in Lucknow and asked the crew to create the Lucknow sets in Abu Dhabi, forcing the budget to increase. They stated that performers do not decide the shooting sites or the budget for their movies. The second schedule began in Lucknow in early December after the Abu Dhabi schedule concluded in just 27 working days. By the end of the month, Saif Ali Khan finished the tasks on his agenda. Apte, whose shooting schedule was only 10 days long, completed most of her scenes by April 26, 2022. By June 10, 2022, production was finished.
