The 2022 American slasher movie Halloween Ends is the follow-up to Halloween Kills (2021), the franchise's thirteenth entry. It is also the last episode of a trilogy of sequels that began with the 2018 film and ignores all previous installments, continuing right after the 1978 film. The movie, which was written, produced, and directed by David Gordon Green, features Jamie Lee Curtis, Andi Matichak, Rohan Campbell, Will Patton, Kyle Richards, and James Jude Courtney. It also serves as Curtis and Nick Castle's last appearance in the series. In the movie, Laurie Strode and her granddaughter Allyson deal with Michael Myers' ongoing danger and the effects of his attacks on the residents of Haddonfield.
Halloween Ends had its world premiere on October 11, 2022, at Beyond Fest in Los Angeles before Universal Pictures distributed it in theatres nationwide on October 14, 2022. Similar to Kills, the movie is simultaneously available on premium Peacock levels for 60 days. Critics gave it mixed reviews, saying that it was unclear and that they felt like they wasted a lot of opportunities.
TRAILER
Pre-production
It was announced in December 2021 that Kyle Richards would play the same part in the movie. Originally, it was not anticipated that the character would return for the movie, but after favorable reviews of Richards' performance, the script was changed to give her a larger role. Michael O'Leary joined the cast the next month. Rohan Campbell was added covertly, with news of the move breaking on social media. Many Southeast Georgia communities held casting calls in late January and February 2022.
Filming
Although it was originally intended, the "tight schedule" prevented the simultaneous filming of Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends. Blum announced in March 2020 that summertime filming would take place. The COVID-19 epidemic silently caused filming to be postponed. The anticipated start date for production in Wilmington, North Carolina, was 2021. Courtney announced in August 2021 that the shooting will start on January 10, 2022. However, under the working title Cave Dweller, filming started on January 19, 2022, in Savannah, Georgia. Michael Simmonds was the director of photography once more. Her scenes were filmed by Curtis starting on January 25 and ending on February 22. There were additional shots filmed in Sylvania, Georgia. The last day of filming was March 9, 2022. Two weeks of reshoots were reportedly conducted in Savannah in June 2022. These retakes, however, only took place for four days and were finished in the same month. Laurie Strode and Michael Myers' final confrontation was filmed "in chunks" during principal photography, with the stunt team adding ideas for fight sequences that had been present since the first draught. Green thought about and filmed the additions before deciding if they were appropriate for the movie, which he wanted to be emotional with story points rather than just a brawl, leading to so many reshoots that he admits the final cut was "a mess."
